Keeping Your White Roof Clean

Ways To Keep A White Roof Clean During Construction

Some owners are more concerned about the aesthetics of their roof systems, with bright white TPO roofs and PVC roofs becoming the most popular commercial roofing products on commercial real estate buildings. Although the roof’s ‘cleanliness or ‘dirtiness’ doesn’t necessarily have to do with the roof’s waterproofing abilities, some property owners prefer a white roof at the completion of a construction project. Peach State roofing’s project managers explain that a nice looking roof is one way to know if the system was properly installed.

What are some ways quality contractors like Peach State roofing can ensure that white TPO or PVC roof systems remain clean throughout construction so that they give their owners a beautiful white roof? These are three techniques that can be used to ensure a clean roof membrane at completion of a project.

  1. Change your shoes – Some crews may wear one pair in the morning while removing the old roof system. Once the roof membrane is unrolled, they will change into new shoes. This prevents dirt and footprints from being tracked across the membrane.
  2. Plastic and sacrifice membrane – You can lay plastic sheeting over newly installed roofing sections to protect it from dirt and foot prints. You can also use scrape membrane to clean the feet around the work area. Crews should clean their feet as soon as someone steps on to a new section.
  3. Squeegee: Roofs are often covered with a layer of wet dew in the morning. You can remove any dust by using a soft squeegee to clean the roof.

No roof system is ever perfect, but quality contractors can install a commercial roof with the right tactics and precautions.
